What are actuators?

Actuators are used to operate valves automatically and/or remotely. Actuators typically use pneumatic, electric or hydraulic power to position the valve in the open or closed position.

The force output of the actuator must be sufficient to overcome both the static friction between the metal to metal surfaces and seats and seals, and the dynamic torque caused by the unbalanced force of the process acting on the ball. The pressure drop across the valve is used to determine the torque requirements of the actuated valve.

Please note: This is for information only - Zetco only offers actuated valves on enquiry.
