What are globe valves?

Globe valves have a conical plug which reciprocates into and out of the valve port. Globe valves are ideal for shut-off as well as throttling service in high temperature and high pressure drop applications. Manual operation is accomplished via a multi-turn handwheel assembly.

Seating is parallel to the line of flow, and all contact between the seat and disk ends when flow commences. Shorter disk travel and fewer turns are required to operate a globe valve this means globe valves are generally more resilient and have less wear on valve parts.

Fully opening or closing the valve requires fewer turns than a gate valve.
